At ChatCom.com™ we believe an Internet chat service can strive to become a clean, safe, and secure chat environment for all of its members to enjoy. However, to get to that goal, the Regular Member's chat rooms must be accessible by registered users only. Most importantly, all of the user identities need to be known to the chat site's administrator. Knowing with reasonable certainty the true identity of our registered users is the only way we have found to effectively create "user accountability." Because chat room "trouble-makers" and "predators" want to escape accountability, the greatest majority of them run from any web site that requires confirmation of their personal information. 

Our approach to solving the problems described here are simple: 

• "Anonymous Guest Access" For our adult chatters who are just passing through and want to take a few moments to check out our rooms, we offer "Anonymous Guest Access" to one of our most popular chat rooms, Expresso. Here you can enter using one of our pre-selected guest user names without any registration requirement. • "Regular Member Access" For those adults who want a safer and more secure chat experience, we offer several chat  rooms accessible by Regular Members only.  These chat rooms are closely monitored. With this registration option we confirm the personal information provided us in registration by collecting a small one-time registration fee of $3.65. As stated earlier, the key to providing a clean and safe chat environment is by first knowing the true identity of the participants. A nominal on-line financial transaction generates the necessary information to learn the true identity of our users.

For those chat rooms with adults only as the participants, positive ID may not be all that important. After all, adults are supposed to be able to take care of themselves. 

When it comes to our kids and teens, a positive ID alone is not enough. At ChatCom.com™, we go one step further. In our KidChatters™ community, each credit card transaction is carefully compared with a "Family Profile" completed by the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) during the registration process. We also review all registration data manually. We think there is no substitute for the human mind's ability to sometimes sense that something doesn't quite "jive" when looking at data provided by other humans. We charge a nominal monthly service fee of $2.95 for membership in each chat community for the children. The registration fee covers up to five children in each family in each chat community.

For a chat community to truly qualify as completely "Internet safe" is most difficult indeed. As much as we would like to, we cannot give you 100% assurance that there will never be a foul word spoken or an unsafe encounter of any kind in our chat communities. However, we can assure you that chat room safety will always be the most important consideration we use in forming our policies and daily priorities.
