| A
half century ago, on January 1, 1946, the 18-year period known as the baby boom began as
millions of soldiers, sailors and marines returned home to the U.S.A. from World War II.
In 1946, the first full year of peace, 3.4 million children were born in the United
States, 600,000 more than in 1945. If
you were one of those Baby Boomers born in 1946 and now find yourself standing at or near
the "front-end" of the Baby Boomers' line:
Congratulations!
You've come a long way baby!
Now, now, don't you go getting all
depressed about that "age thing." Remember, you've got lots of good company. In
fact, did you know that those Baby Boomers at the "front-end" of the line (like
me, ChatBob) started celebrating their 50th birthdays on midnight January 1, 1996 at the
rate of ten thousand Boomers per day? Can you believe it?
That's one Baby Boomer turning 50 years old every eight seconds!
Well, if you would like to meet some other
cool Boomers' and share a few memories, or have a laugh or two about what
"really" happened in the 60's, scroll on down this page and check out one of the
Boomers' Chat rooms: Woodstock One and Apollo Eleven.
Remember...
You are at the "front-end" of the Boomers' line if:
|
Every
Sunday night you watched
shows...but
they weren't re-runs! |
Your first realization of what happened to you in the `60's was when you woke up New
Year's Day 1960...
and found out...it
was really January 1, 1970! |
